Lavatrax Bike Hire

For clients who would prefer not to bring their own bikes with them, we now have a small fleet of Marin full suspension bikes available for hire. Maybe you currently ride a hardtail bike and would like to try out a full suspension bike, or maybe you are only planning a day or two's riding so bringing your own bike is not a cost effective option. If so our quality bikes are the perfect option for you.

We only hire out bikes for use with our guided rides and not on general hire for private use.

All the bikes are kept in top condition, but will obviously pick up scratches and scrapes through normal use, so may not be in showroom condition when you hire them. However, they are all properly maintained and in a safe condition. Brake pads are changed regularly although pads may not be brand new on your ride, they will have plenty of life left, similarly, tires may not be brand new, but will have a good tread and be free from damage which may affect their safety.

Bikes hired to clients are the clients responsibility and should be safeguarded at all times. Clients are responsible for damages to the bikes however caused whilst in their possession. Replacement parts will be charged at the cost to us. A list of prices for the most common items can be provided on request.

Whilst we will make every effort to make sure that the bikes are in top condition, we cannot be held liable for failure of parts while out on the trail.

VIP Bike - Kingdom Hex

Kingdom's Hex is the perfect Enduro Machine

2018HexSide 580x2xThe Hex is a 160mm front and 145mm rear travel super bike. Crafted from titanium and carbon fibre the bike weighs in at a cheeky 13Kgs. With a 1x10 drive train and the new defacto standard 650b wheel size the Hex is the perfect bike for the technical trails here in Tenerife.
Most of the fleet are running RockShox suspension front and rear and braking is handled by the ever reliable Hope Technologu E4 brakes. Size M bikes currently have dropper posts, we hope to add droppers to the S and L sizes soon.
See what Guy Kesteven of What MTB and MBR thought of the Hex HERE
The Hex is my personal favourite ride and the natural choice for our high end VIP hire bike, we know you'll enjoy it!
Currently available in sizes -
Small - Suits rider heights from 155cm to 170cm
Medium - Suits rider heights from 165cm to 180cm
Large - Suits rider heights from 175cm to 190cm
NOTE - Currently we have a rider weight limit on the Hex of 105 Kg (Around 16 Stones) as we have found that with the leverage rate on the rear we cannot achieve the correct suspension sag even with the shock at the maximum allowed pressure. We hope to be able to address this with a different shock tune or different shock to be able to remove this restriction soon.

Standard Bike - Marin Mount Vision or Wolf Ridge II

Our standard hire bikes are the Marin Mount Vision or Wolf Ridge II

MountVision XM

With Fox RP2 rear shock and Rockshox Revalation RLT's with 15mm Maxle light up front it handles anything put in it's path. Braking is taken care of by Hope Tech X2 stoppers with 180mm rotors up front and 160mm rear. Drive train is a mix of shimano LX and SLX.

So far we have found the bikes to be great allrounders, climbing really well and having good angles for the descents. The suspension gives great small bump sensitivity whilst still handling the bigger hits in a controlled and progressive way.

WolfRidge2The Wolf Ridge 2 has pretty much everything covered on the suspension front, with a Fox RP23 rear shock and Rockshox Pikes with 20mm Maxle on the front. It is a quality bike with LX and SLX shifting and Hope Pro2 hubs keeping rolling duties smooth true. Braking is taken care of by Hope Tech X2 units with 200mm front rotor and 180mm rear.

The bikes are great descenders with angles that inspire confidence on the steepest terrain, but with propedal damping activated on the RP23 rear shock, they are also more capable climbers than you would possibly expect.

Bike Hire - Terms and Conditions of Hire

Terms and Conditions of Hire for Lavatrax Hire Bikes

We don't want to be party poopers, but there are a few basic T's & C's to cover our hire bikes.

We want to make sure that the bike you hire is maintained to the best possible standards. They may have the odd scratch and scrape, but will be in a safe and mechanically sound condition.  Should you have problems with your bike, please tell your guide as soon as possible so that the issue can be addressed.
Punctures will happen and your guide will always have spare tubes. Should you need it, your first replacement tube is included in the hire price, further tubes will be charged at 2.50€ per tube.
Unlike hire cars, there is no CDW insurance available for hire bikes, so any damages must be paid for by the hirer. We're not looking to make money from you here, just to make sure that the next person to use the bike receives it in a good condition. For this reason, we don't charge for any labour to make repairs and we only charge what we pay ourselves for any replacement parts.
An example of the most common breakages due to accident damage and their associated costs are -
Mech hanger - From 15€  to 35€ depending on bike model
Rear Mech - Deore / SLX - 42€  XT - 55€
Brake lever blade - 15€
Wheel buckled beyond repair - 60€ (new rim and spokes to existing hub)
Anyone hiring one of our bikes will be deemed to be in agreement with these terms and conditions.
